THE CART IS HERE. NOW WE BUILD THE MACHINE.

For a while, the Bristol to LA Project has existed mostly on paper.

There have been plans, maps, training runs, gear lists, route research, fundraising, sponsorship emails and a whole lot of people asking us some version of the same question:

“Are you really doing this?”

Well…

The cart is here.

And suddenly, this feels a whole lot more real.

This is the cart that will carry Zac’s gear for more than 2,800 miles from Bristol, Tennessee to Los Angeles.

There won't be a support vehicle following him.

There won't be a crew waiting around the next corner.

Everything Zac needs to live and keep moving down the road for roughly 70 days has to fit into this thing.

Which means we have some work to do.

THE FIRST TEST

Before we start cutting, modifying and turning this cart into an actual expedition setup, Zac wanted to see what it could handle.

So yesterday, he loaded it up with a 30 pound dumbbell and went for a 10 mile run.

Because apparently that's how you test a cart. 😂

The goal wasn't to recreate the full expedition yet.

It was to get a feel for how the cart moves, how it handles over distance and what might need to be changed before we start loading it down with everything he'll actually need.

And honestly, that first test was important.

Because a cart that feels fine for a mile or two can feel very different after 10 miles.

And 10 miles is nothing compared to what this thing is about to experience.

NOW THE REAL WORK STARTS

The cart is going to need to become much more than a cart.

We're going to have to figure out storage.

Weather protection.

Water.

Food.

Camping gear.

Clothing.

Technology.

Power.

Safety equipment.

Recovery supplies.

Personal care items.

And all of the little things that you don't think about until you're trying to figure out how to carry your entire life across a country.

Every pound matters.

Every inch of storage matters.

And everything needs a purpose.

We're going to test things.

We're going to change things.

We're probably going to realize some ideas were terrible and change them again. 😂

And we're going to share the whole process.

Because we don't want you to just see the finished cart when Zac leaves Bristol.

We want you to see how it gets built.

FROM BRISTOL TO LOS ANGELES

On October 17, Zac will leave Bristol, Tennessee and start heading west.

The cart will be with him every step of the way.

It will carry the gear.

It will carry the supplies.

It will carry the things that keep him moving.

And eventually, it will have traveled more than 2,800 miles across the country.

Right now, though, it's just sitting here waiting for us to turn it into something capable of doing all of that.

And that's what we're about to do.

This is the beginning of one of the most important pieces of the Bristol to LA Project.

The cart is here.

The testing has started.

The modifications are next.

And October 17 is getting closer.

Follow along as we turn this thing into an expedition machine and get Zac ready to take it from Bristol to Los Angeles.

2,800+ miles.

70 days.

One cart.

One very long road toward a brighter tomorrow.
